THE restaurant in Villanders: dine like the nobles of old
Just like in times of yore, our gourmet cuisine pays homage to grandma’s cooking, preparing fresh creations each day that are perfectly presented on your plate.
Guests are more than welcome to indulge themselves between the romantic medieval walls of the historic Steinbock Manor in their dreams, with delicious food and with fine wines.
In its snug rooms, the Neuhaus Stube and Herrenstube, you will feel that you are in an establishment where the nobility used to dine. The kitchen certainly upholds this historic obligation of creating exceptional fare.
Drawing on the traditional and the genuine, yet at the same time vigorously fresh and highly creative, the cuisine at the Gourmet Hotel & Restaurant Steinbock Manor has been acclaimed by the Gault Millau guide (15 points and two toques) as well as the “Guida dell’espresso” and the Michelin guide.
Refined dishes such as a tartare of Angus from our own herd served with bread, Villanders farm butter, quail eggs and truffled egg cream, or fillet and cheek of pasture-fed beef with onions, served with a Puster Valley variation of potatoes and cocktail onions, recreate the sense of dining in the fine style of old.
Eating well in Villanders: regional, seasonal and garden-fresh
Apart from our kitchen staff, who delight in constantly reinventing closely-guarded recipes, there are – naturally – the ingredients that underlie the secret of each and every outstanding cuisine. We grow our own salads, vegetables and herbs, we have our own mountain artichoke plantation, as well as producing tomatoes and raspberries – even the Angus beef and the mutton that we serve comes from our family farm. We always get other fresh, seasonal ingredients from local farmers and butchers, before turning them into creative, Mediterranean-influenced delicacies in our gourmet kitchen.
We kindly ask guests to notify us of any allergies or intolerances when booking to allow our kitchen to make the necessary arrangements.
